Immigration to New Zealand (Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa)

Under this category, you must have skills that can contribute to New Zealand’s economic growth for you to live in New Zealand permanently. Your application is more likely to be accepted if you have employment in an area in which New Zealand has a skills shortage.

You will need to have enough skills, experience and qualifications for the government of New Zealand to accept your Expression of Interest and invite you to apply for residence. There is an age restriction; you must be 55 or younger when you apply. Moreover, you will need to speak English reasonably well.

Once you get the visa, you can live, work and study in New Zealand indefinitely as long as you meet the visa conditions. That also includes your partner and dependent children aged 24 and under in your residence application. If you comply with the visa conditions, you can apply for permanent residence while working there.

You can register your interest at any time by sending us your Expression of Interest (EOI) to the government of New Zealand. If qualified, you will be invited to apply for residence, and you will have four months to send your application to them. The government of New Zealand has a point-based system to assess your qualification; please press here to go to their website for assessment.
